ART AT THE SERVICE OF SOCIETY
La Source provides children and young people in difficulty with access to artistic practice, featuring workshops in all artistic fields, including painting. The goal: to help them to establish themselves, to thrive through art. For Pébéo, this partnership is self-evident.
Artistic creation can foster social action to fight exclusion: it is this conviction that headed up the creation of La Source, in 1991, at the initiative of the painter Gérard Garouste. La Source, an association of general interest geared towards society and education, offers rural and urban youth workshops in all artistic fields: painting, engraving, sculpture in clay, wood, forging, photography, video, installation, performing arts, street art, land art, writing, animated film. These workshops headed by artists, in close collaboration with social workers and teachers, are intended to help these young people in difficulty to establish themselves by developing their creativity. "It seemed quite natural to us to take part in and support the action by La Source, as it is part of Pébéo's DNA," explains Eric Chaveau. “For a long time, we have been convinced that art is a mighty vector of integration, and artistic activities bring therapeutic and educational benefits. "In 1950, the fate of Pébéo, "pigment manufacturer" was transformed with the meeting with Célestin Freinet, a revolutionary teacher in his time who fostered the development of children through the practice of artistic activity, specifically plastic arts. "This is how we have become" a manufacturer of colours "whose mission is to create products that enable plastic creative activities to be democratised. "Pébéo can only be sensitive to the social and educational dimension of the action of La Source!
